  • CLASS

A variety of classes offered by Carpe Diem Hiroo.

    White Belt Class

This class is open only to white belt members. The class focuses on the basic movements and techniques of Jiu-Jitsu. Many drills (repetition exercises) are also included. There will be very little sparring. In addition, we use a sparring style that starts from a safe position.

    Colord Belt Class

This class is open only to color belt members. The class focuses on the basic movements and techniques of Jiu-Jitsu. Many drills (repetition exercises) are also included. There will be very little sparring. In addition, we use a sparring style that starts from a safe position.

    Regular Class

In this class, you will learn all the elements necessary for Jiu-Jitsu competition. The class will include standing techniques and ankle joint techniques. The sparring time will be longer than in the Basic class, and the content of the class will be more advanced. If you have no martial arts experience and are just starting out in Jiu-Jitsu, this class will be a hurdle for you. It is recommended that students attend the white belt class and basic class for at least six months to learn the basic movements before joining the regular class. However, there are no restrictions on belt color in this class either.

    Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

    no-gi class

The class will be held in rash guards and shorts, not jiu-jitsu clothes. This class is open to members of all belt colors. Grappling requires more "reaction speed" and "muscle strength" than regular Jiu-Jitsu because you cannot "grab" like you can in street clothes. As a result, this class will require a little more physical strength than a regular Jiu-Jitsu class.

What is CARPE DIEM for you?

Carpe Diem BJJ is the first real job I've ever had but is also where I can pursue my dream of becoming a world champion.

Every member of the staff I work with is equally motivated and we all provide positive encouragement to each other. For me, Carpe Diem BJJ is where I find true friends with whom I can share this life.

Our membership is full of excellent people as well. I teach BJJ, which is a fairly narrow world to live in, but our members let me into theirs and teach me things I would otherwise never know. On one hand Carpe Diem BJJ exists for competitive jujitsu training, but on the other it also brings people from diverse worlds together.

What is CARPE DIEM for you?

Carpe Diem, “seize the day,” is a way of life for me, and the Carpe Diem BJJ dojos are where we -- the staff, our members, everyone -- can get together and make that way of life happen.

Before I would think about my future, being unable to do the things I wanted to do and generally worrying about life. Now, with “seize the day” as a fundamental attitude I feel like I can make straightforward progress toward my goals.

I should be very pleased with myself if I can use jujitsu to help other people seize the day, too.

What is CARPE DIEM for you?

For me, Carpe Diem is a dojo where you can forget about the worries of the future and enjoy living right now. This is because by taking on BJJ at Carpe Diem, I know that I won’t have any regrets in the future. It wasn’t like that right away. By being able to come to Carpe Diem while I was in high school during summer and winter vacations, I met a lot of great people and as I thought about the future while doing BJJ I was able to start believing that this path was one which I wouldn’t regret. I want to continue to enjoy my development and get stronger with the great competitors here.

        Dojo etiquette

Here's a quick overview of the etiquette we like to follow in our dojos. These aren't "rules" so much as what we think of as proper decorum in the dojo. We believe all of these are within the bounds of common sense, and we hope you'll agree.
